Did you see significant changes in your figure after pregnancy and childbirth? While pregnancy and childbirth are among some of the most beautiful experiences you can have, they often leave a lasting impact on your body. Many women notice a change in their breast volume, excess skin left around the midsection, and even a change in their pubic region after giving birth. If you want to enhance the way your body looks after having children, you may benefit from a mommy makeover procedure. Mommy makeovers tackle the aesthetic issues you have after pregnancy, helping restore your pre-baby body. Kadz Plastic Surgery provides mommy makeover surgery to help women feel like the best version of themselves. Read on to learn more about mommy makeover procedures and what they include. What Is a Mommy Makeover? A mommy makeover is a plastic surgical procedure that aims to address common cosmetic concerns that appear after pregnancy and childbirth. These include excess weight, loose skin, and a change in breast tissue. Mommy makeover procedures are customized to each patient’s unique needs, including only the surgical treatments that will address their specific concerns. What’s Included in the Mommy Makeover Procedure? The mommy makeover surgery is tailored to exactly what each patient needs. Your mommy makeover can include any combination of the following: breast lift, breast augmentation, tummy tuck, monsplasty, and more. Learn more about the most common elements of mommy makeover surgery below. Breast Lift Pregnancy and breastfeeding can lead to significant changes in breast tissue. During pregnancy, the breasts will increase in volume, and after childbirth, they will gradually lose volume until you are finished breastfeeding. These fluctuations cause changes in the skin and breast tissue that can lead the breasts to drop downwards and sag. Breast lifts are often included in mommy makeovers to reposition the breasts to a higher position on the chest. The skin and tissue can be altered in order to lift the breasts upwards and restore their pre-pregnancy position. Breast Augmentation During pregnancy and childbirth, the extreme changes in breast volume can lead to permanent changes in the way your breasts look. After you are finished breastfeeding, you may experience a large decrease in the volume of your breasts, causing them to appear very different. The shape of the breasts may go from round and full to flattened and empty. Breast augmentation may be included in your mommy makeover procedure to add volume to the breasts. With the use of silicone, saline, or gummy bear implants, augmentation can restore fullness and give the breasts a rounder shape. Tummy Tuck The weight fluctuations that occur during pregnancy may lead to major changes in your midsection. While diet and exercise can help you lose weight after giving birth, you may find yourself left with stretched abdominal muscles and loose skin on your stomach. No amount of exercise or dieting can address these issues, which is why tummy tucks are commonly included in a mommy makeover. Also known as an abdominoplasty, a tummy tuck removes excess loose skin from the midsection and tightens underlying abdominal muscles. A tummy tuck will help create a flatter, more toned appearance in the abdomen that can be impossible to achieve on your own after pregnancy. Monsplasty During pregnancy, many women see a change in the volume of their mons pubis. This is the upper region of the vulva where there is the most pubic hair growth. Pregnancy can cause this area to become very full and bulge outwards more than it did before. This bulging can occur due to a combination of unwanted fat and excess loose skin. While weight loss may cause a decrease in this fullness, some women are still left with a prominent bulge in this area. Many patients choose to have a monsplasty included in their mommy makeover to address pubic bulging. A monsplasty procedure removes excess skin and any unwanted fat from the area, creating a flatter, more contoured appearance. Who Is Mommy Makeover Surgery Intended for? The ideal candidate for a mommy makeover procedure is any woman who wants to resolve the changes that pregnancy and childbirth have made to their body. This includes patients with the following concerns: Loose skin around the abdomen Sagging or hanging breasts Loss of fullness in the breasts Change in breast shape or size Bulging or excess skin in the pubic area Stretched or damaged abdominal muscles Excess weight around the midsection The best way to know if a mommy makeover is the right treatment for you is by having a consultation with us. How Many Sizes Do You Lose With a Tummy Tuck?
Do you feel self-conscious about loose skin hanging from your abdomen? Have you lost a great deal of weight but still feel unhappy because you now have excess abdominal skin? Do you wish you could lose a bit of belly fat? If so, you may be considered a good candidate for a tummy tuck, also known as abdominoplasty. Today, our aesthetic experts at the office of Dr. Bruce Kadz in Beverly Hills, CA are looking at how many sizes you can lose post-op. How Many Sizes Do You Lose With a Tummy Tuck? You can generally expect to lose between two and three pants sizes following abdominoplasty. However, if you have a great deal of excess skin and you combine this procedure with liposuction, you may be able to lose four or more pants sizes. We can give you a better idea of how many pants sizes you can expect to lose during your initial consultation. Everyone has a different amount of excess abdominal skin and fat, so individual results vary. How Much Weight Can You Lose With Abdominoplasty? Typically, people lose around five pounds if they get a complete abdominoplasty. If they opt for a partial abdominoplasty, they can expect to lose no more than three pounds. If liposuction is added to a tuck, it is possible to lose closer to 15 pounds. This is because up to 11 pounds of excess fat can be removed safely during most liposuction procedures. The exact amount of fat that can be removed safely depends on one’s starting weight. What Are the Different Types of Tummy Tuck? A complete abdominoplasty, sometimes referred to as a full tuck, is a body contouring procedure that involves improving the appearance of the upper and lower abdomen. This is accomplished by removing excess skin and tightening loose skin below and above the navel. A small amount of excess fat may also be excised during this procedure. An extended tuck is similar, but it also improves the contours of the back and hips. A partial abdominoplasty, sometimes referred to as a mini tuck, is a body contouring procedure that involves improving the appearance of only the lower abdomen. This procedure may be ideal for you if you do not have concerns about your abdominal walls; the abdominal muscles themselves are only tightened during a full or extended tuck. A bit of excess fat can be excised, but it is not a fat removal procedure. How Long Will My Procedure Take? It usually takes around 2.5 hours to perform a full tuck, not including the preparation time or the observation period required after the procedure. All told, if you want to improve the appearance of your upper and lower abdomen, you need to be in our office for roughly 3.5 hours. If you also need quite a bit of excess fat removed, your total appointment time may be closer to 4.5 hours. We can give you a better idea of how long your procedure will take when you come in for your initial consultation and discuss all of your aesthetic goals. Sometimes, people find that they need other procedures, like an arm lift or liposuction to remove excess chest fat, to achieve their desired aesthetic. How Long Will My Recovery Take? You can expect most of your recovery to be complete within a week or two of your procedure. This is about how long you will need to take off from work, regardless of whether you get a full tuck, an extended tuck, or a tummy tuck combined with liposuction. How long you have to take off from work depends on how physically demanding your job is and whether your duties can be modified temporarily. However, you should keep in mind that restrictions will be replaced on your usual activities for six to eight weeks. Specifically, you need to be prepared to take a couple of months off from lifting heavy weights or engaging in any other strenuous physical activity. The more you focus on your rest in the early stages of your recovery, the sooner you will be able to get back to doing what you love safely. How Much Should I Drink During My Recovery Period? A good goal to aim for is to drink at least 64 ounces of water and tea daily during your recovery period. However, you should adjust your fluid intake up or down depending on the color of your urine. It should be pale. If it is dark, try drinking more hydrating fluids or snack on a water-dense fruit or vegetable. If it is clear, you are overhydrating and should take a break from drinking for a while. Should I Exercise After My Procedure? The day after your procedure, you should start making a point to go for gentle walks. However, you should keep in mind while going on your gentle walks that your pulse should not be too elevated, and it is very important to rest whenever your body tells you that it needs rest. It may take a few days before you’re walking like you were before your procedure. Just be patient with yourself, and take as many breaks as you need to. How Much Sleep Should I Try To Get? You should try to get nine hours of consecutive sleep each night during your recovery. Usually, adults need around 7.5 hours of sleep per night, but you need a lot more rest during your recovery period because your skin needs to heal itself after the incisions are made. Most of this healing takes place during the rapid eye movement stage of the sleep cycle. Unfortunately, this is the final stage, and you have to complete all of the earlier stages to get there. If you wake up in the middle of the night, regardless of which stage you were in when you woke up, you have to start over at the first stage of the sleep cycle. If you find that you can’t sleep nine hours in a row, try to get 7.5 hours of consecutive sleep and take a 90-minute nap during the day. What Should I Eat After My Procedure? It isn’t just important that you eat fruits and veggies to stay hydrated during your recovery period. It is also important that you eat plenty of protein so your skin can produce enough collagen. Collagen is a protein that is responsible for many functions, including skin tightening and skin healing. Try to get between 50 and 60 grams of protein in your diet every day, and make sure you’re getting your recommended daily allowance of vitamin C. Protein consumption is crucial because protein is made up of amino acids. Your body can break down protein into usable components (amino acids) and use that material to build the type of protein it needs (collagen). However, you should keep in mind that your body also needs vitamin C to produce collagen. Also, you should make sure you are getting plenty of soluble fiber in your diet. Certain analgesics may affect bowel movements in some people. Am I a Good Candidate for a Tummy Tuck? If you are in fairly good health, there is a good chance that you will qualify for abdominoplasty. However, you must attend an initial evaluation to find out for sure whether this procedure is appropriate for you. If you suffer from certain medical conditions, including heart problems, lung problems, and bleeding disorders, you will not be considered a good candidate for abdominoplasty. The best candidate for this procedure is an individual who is concerned about the appearance of their abdominal region and does not plan to become pregnant in the future. Often, this procedure is used to repair and tighten the abdominal walls after they have been damaged durign pregnancy or childbirth. A follow-up procedure may be necessary in the future if you become pregnant after getting a tuck. Schedule Your Initial Consultation Today Most people lose two to three pants sizes following a tummy tuck, but it is possible to lose four or more pants sizes. The number of sizes you can expect to lose following your procedure depends on many factors, including the amount of excess skin you have, the amount of excess fat you have, and whether you combine your abdominoplasty with liposuction. What Is the Best Age To Get a Mommy Makeover?
Childbirth and breastfeeding can put a tremendous strain on a woman’s body. Many women find that after even one child, their body does not look the way it used to, and no amount of diet or exercise seems to help. At Kadz Plastic Surgery in Beverly Hills, CA, Dr. Bruce Kadz performs the renowned Mommy Makeover, which can be a life-changing experience for women who are no longer happy with how their body looks after having children. Women of all ages who ideally do not plan on having more children can take advantage of this amazing combination of procedures. Choosing when the time is right to schedule a surgical makeover is a very personal decision, but we do have some advice below. The Right Time To Get a Mommy Makeover Many women ask if there is an ideal age at which to have a Mommy Makeover. While our typical makeover patient tends to be in her 30’s or 40’s, there is not a specific age that we recommend for having this combination of procedures done. Some women wish to have surgery a year or two after they have given birth, while others wait until ten or more years later when their children are older. While there is no rule about when to have the makeover performed, it does make sense to wait until you are finished having children. It is also a good idea to see what fitness and weight loss goals you can achieve on your own before resorting to surgery. In some cases, it can take a woman a year or longer to get back into shape after giving birth. When Diet and Exercise Aren’t Enough If you are finding that you have stubborn pockets of fat that won’t go away despite your best efforts, this is sometimes an issue that can only be resolved with surgery. Likewise, if you have sagging skin and/or drooping breasts resulting from pregnancy, these are problems that no amount of healthy living can reverse. The Mommy Makeover is designed to resolve all these problems at once. A breast lift (with or without implants), liposuction, a tummy tuck, and a butt lift are the typical combination of procedures included in this type of surgical makeover, but it can of course be fully customized to fix whatever physical imperfections might be bothering you. The Average Age for a Mommy Makeover Women who invest in this combination of procedures tend to fall into three age groupings. We see women in their 30’s who recently had their last child and are anxious to get their figure back as soon as possible. Then we see women in their 40’s who have been thinking about surgery for some time, but wanted to wait until their children were more self sufficient. We also see women over the age of 50 who simply weren’t able to make enough time for themselves until all their children were out of the house. Again, there is no right or wrong age, but being able to take enough time for yourself to rest during the recovery process is essential. Some women find this very hard to do when their children are little. Can You Be Too Old for This Combination of Procedures? There is no such thing as being “too old” for any type of cosmetic procedure – the only prerequisite is that a patient be in good health. There are even some advantages to waiting until later in life to have this type of complete surgical makeover. You know with certainty that you won’t be having any more children, and your body has had plenty of time to “settle” post pregnancy so you know exactly what needs fixing and what does not. Who Makes the Best Candidate for a Surgical Makeover As we have established, there is no ideal age at which to have a Mommy Makeover, but the best candidates do fit a certain profile. They should be: In good overall health Non-smokers or willing to quit Able to follow all pre- and post-op instructions Able to take time off for recovery Realistic about what results to expect Preferably not planning to have more children Why Being Able To Take Time off Is So Important Even if you are a stay-at-home mother who does not have a regular full-time job to take time off from, patients need to be certain that they will have enough help at home so that they can take a significant amount of time to rest and recover. Since a surgical makeover involves more than one procedure, it can take a patient several weeks to feel like themselves again. Having adequate rest and time for self care is so important for the recovery process. As any mother knows, caring for children can be exhausting, so make sure that you have some help for at least a few weeks post surgery. Strenuous activity (such as lifting children) must be avoided until your body has fully healed. If You Are Planning To Have More Children If you aren’t sure that you are done with childbearing, you may want to wait a year or two until you have more clarity about your future plans. Having more children can reverse some of the results that are achieved with surgery. There is of course no rule against getting pregnant again, but ideally it is a good idea to wait to have a more extensive surgical enhancement. How Long To Wait After Pregnancy If you have had your last baby and are wondering how soon you can safely schedule your makeover, we recommend waiting at least one year. This will give your body enough time to heal and settle following child birth. A woman must also be done breastfeeding. At the one-year mark, you should have a good idea what permanent effects child birth has had on your body, but some women feel that it’s wise to wait a bit longer to see how much more they can bounce back with rigorous diet and exercise. This is a personal choice. If you aren’t sure if the time is right, this can be discussed with your doctor during your consultation. Having Realistic Expectations It is important that mothers be realistic about what results they can achieve with this surgery. Yes, your body will look much better than it did after having children, but it might not look exactly as it did in your 20’s before you got pregnant for the first time. Some patients are very pleasantly surprised to find that they look better than ever, but this is not a result that can be guaranteed. What we can guarantee is that your figure will be lifted, tightened, and toned, and that your breasts will regain their fullness and symmetry. Stubborn pockets of fat will disappear, and loose, hanging skin will be lifted. Patients can be certain than significant, long-lasting results will be achieved. Final Results Women undergoing a Mommy Makeover usually have both a breast augmentation and a breast lift. This will address the issues of sagging and volume loss that can result from pregnancy and breastfeeding. The breasts often take the hardest hit from the effects of childbearing. Some women choose to start with breast surgery and come back later for their other procedures. Or, you may wish to get your makeover done all at once. The second focus of this makeover is removing stubborn fat deposits that have been resistant to diet and exercise. Liposuction can effectively remove these deposits from the hips, legs, stomach, back, arms, neck, and even face. If a significant amount of fat needs to be removed, your surgeon may recommend combining liposuction with lifting and tightening procedures to remove the excess skin that will be left behind. How Long Do these Results Last? The good news is that with some basic healthy lifestyle habits, the results of a surgical makeover can last for many years. Adopting a good diet and exercise routine will go a long way towards helping you to maintain your new figure well into the future. Are You Ready To Change Your Body and Your Life? Your Guide to a Rhinoplasty in Beverly Hills
A rhinoplasty is a safe, outpatient surgical procedure done on your nose to help correct the shape or address a medical condition. The specifics of this surgery can vary from patient to patient because everyone’s facial structures and aesthetic goals are unique. Most people assume that a rhinoplasty involves making the nose smaller, but there are just as many patients out there who wish to augment their noses. Dr. Kadz has decades of experience helping patients address a variety of cosmetic and medical concerns. His versatile skills and diverse surgical background are why he is a premier provider of rhinoplasty in Beverly Hills. What Can a Rhinoplasty Do? Rhinoplasty surgery is one of the oldest, most commonly performed surgical procedures. In fact, cosmetic rhinoplasty dates back to the late 19th century in Michigan by an otolaryngologist (ear, nose, and throat surgeon) named John Orlando Roe. Facial reconstruction surgery has come a long way since the 1800s. Today, rhinoplasty surgery is a quick and effective procedure, usually taking less than two hours from start to finish. A rhinoplasty can: Reshape your nose Reduce the overall size of your nose Augment the size of your nose Remove nose humps Narrow nostril width Change the angle between your mouth and nose Correct nasal injury Address birth defects Improve problems that affect breathing There are lots of reasons why you might want rhinoplasty surgery. Some patients get rhinoplasty surgery to help with their anti-aging goals, so we help several patients achieve a more youthful appearance by altering the angle of their nose in relation to their upper lip. Some patients simply want their nose smoothed, while others have specific contours and shapes in mind. Speak to our providers about your aesthetic goals, and we’ll develop a plan to achieve the facial profile you want. Rhinoplasty Surgery for Medical Purposes There are three types of medically necessary rhinoplasty surgeries: Septoplasty A septoplasty corrects a deviated septum. When you have a deviated septum, your nasal septum is either off-center, crooked, or fragmented, which causes breathing problems and hinders your quality of life. Turbinectomy A turbinectomy is a rhinoplasty surgery that removes a portion of your turbinates, the long, thin bones located on the inside of your nose. Some patients have enlarged turbinates, which obstruct their nasal airway and hinder breathing. Turbinoplasty Turbinoplasty surgery is an alternative to a turbinectomy. A turbinoplasty corrects enlarged turbinates without actually removing any portions of them. Many patients who receive rhinoplasty for medical reasons experience improved breathing, decreased cases of sinusitis, and fewer headaches. A lot of patients find their overall health and quality of life improved post-procedure because they can exercise and sleep better. How Rhinoplasty Surgery Works Your procedure details are going to be specific to your face. Before your rhinoplasty surgery in Beverly Hills, Dr. Kadz evaluates several factors, including: Skin type Specific facial dimensions Bone structure Unique aesthetic goals All of these considerations contribute to his surgical approach. However, generally, rhinoplasty surgery begins with small incisions inside the nose. Because these incisions are inside your nose, they will not be visible. From here, Dr. Kadz will access your nose’s support system of bone and cartilage and manipulate them into your new structure. In some cases, these components may be removed, rearranged, or added to help achieve your goals. After Dr. Kadz has established your new nose shape, he’ll close the incisions and place a splint on your nose to help hold everything in place while you heal. Who Is Eligible for a Rhinoplasty? Rhinoplasty surgery is only performed on patients who have reached their full growth. Typically, this is around age fifteen or sixteen. The reason children younger than this should not get a rhinoplasty is because they are still growing and developing. This means their facial features could change post-procedure. Once you’re fully grown, your overall facial features and structure won’t change much at all. What You Can Expect During the Procedure Before your procedure, you’ll consult with Dr. Kadz about the pre-op requirements—what to do and what not to do before surgery. A rhinoplasty is an outpatient procedure, so in most cases, you will be out of our clinic and back home within the day. One benefit of rhinoplasty is it has a relatively short recovery period. Most of our patients are back at work within a week or two. They fully reintegrate into their regular routine within two to three weeks, including exercise and other strenuous activities. Rhinoplasty Alternatives We offer a non-surgical rhinoplasty at Kadz Plastic Surgery. This procedure involves a specific type of dermal filler that changes the shape and volume of your nose. The dermal filler we use to help contour the nose is a temporary, non-permanent solution. It can be used to correct certain irregularities in your shape but does not have nearly the same amount of benefits as rhinoplasty surgery. Should You Get a Rhinoplasty? If you have a medical condition that could be treated with a rhinoplasty, Dr. Kadz can help guide you on what to do and when to move forward with the procedure. If you are unsatisfied with the appearance of your nose, a rhinoplasty could be a great way to achieve your goals. Get a Consultation for Rhinoplasty in Beverly Hills The best way to determine whether rhinoplasty is right for you is to schedule a consultation with Dr. Kadz’s office, the best-known practice for rhinoplasty in Beverly Hills. Liposuction: Remove Fat Permanently
Everyone has body fat. It’s a natural part of being human. However, some people struggle with stubborn body fat that simply won’t go away no matter what they do. If you have tried dieting and exercising away those “pockets” of fat, or if you’re a healthy BMI but have unwanted problem areas, liposuction could be the perfect solution for you! What Is Liposuction? Liposuction is a surgical procedure that removes undesirable fat from different areas of the body, including: Thighs Buttocks Arms Hips Neck Abdomen Other names for liposuction include fat modeling and suction-assisted “body contouring” because the procedure is essentially surgically contouring these areas and sculpting your physique. Is Liposuction a Weight Loss Method? Liposuction is a fat loss method, not a weight loss method. This procedure targets stubborn fat that doesn’t go away despite proper diet or exercise. Liposuction removes this fat via a suction technique. Weight Loss vs. Fat Loss “Weight loss” means decreasing your overall body weight, including water, fat, and muscle. Weight loss procedures are useful for patients who struggle with obesity and have a significant amount of body weight to lose. Helpful weight loss procedures include gastric bypass and sleeve gastrectomy. Fat loss procedures, like liposuction, can be done on patients with healthy body weights. Gastric bypass surgery is unsuitable for individuals who have healthy weights, just like liposuction is unsuitable for individuals who are obese. While there’s nothing objectively wrong with each of these procedures, they are meant for totally different patient demographics. How Liposuction Works Although liposuction is considered to be a surgical procedure, it is barely intrusive. At Kadz Plastic Surgery, we begin by making small incisions, through which we’re able to direct our premier medical tools to target and remove fat. We insert a small, thin tube called a cannula through the incisions. The device connects to a suction vacuum that helps remove fat and fluids from localized, targeted areas of the body. Why Is Fat So Stubborn? There are lots of reasons why fat stubbornly clings to your problem areas. Some reasons include: Age As you get older, your metabolism slows down. Your metabolism helps determine the rate at which you burn calories. A slow metabolism means you burn fewer calories, and it’s harder to lose weight. Genetics Some of us are simply more prone to holding fat than others. Your genes can influence your body in lots of ways, from your appetite and metabolism to your body fat distribution and satiety. There is a ton of compelling evidence indicating that your body fat distribution is determined genetically. This is why two people of the same weight and height can look completely different. One person might gain fat around their belly, while the other person may have proportional fat distribution throughout their body. Hormone Hormones are another influence over stubborn body fat. Some of the main hormones that influence our appetites, body fat distribution, and metabolism include: Leptin Insulin Estrogen Androgens Human growth hormone If you’re experiencing a stubborn fat that just won’t go away, it could be due to a hormonal imbalance. Top 5 Liposuction Benefits Liposuction has many benefits for patients seeking safe and effective fat loss. Removes Fat Safely Liposuction is popular because it’s such a safe procedure. This surgery is able to remove the fat in its pure form. It’s also an outpatient procedure, allowing you to be up and on your feet after approximately two days of recovery. Removes Fat Permanently When you get a liposuction procedure, your fat cells are removed permanently. They do not grow back! Liposuction on one area of your body won’t prevent you from gaining fat somewhere else. However, many of our patients remain permanently satisfied with their results, especially when they combine liposuction with healthy weight maintenance. Fat Loss Can Improve Your Overall Health Everyone needs some amount of body fat on their bodies for the sake of health, like hormonal integrity. However, unwanted fat deposits can hold you back from your ideal BMI and overall weight. The liposuction procedure removes around four pounds of fat deposits per treatment area. Liposuction fat loss can help you achieve the right BMI and improve your overall health. Helps You Achieve Your Aesthetic Goals Anyone who has tried diet and exercise knows how challenging it can be. It’s especially challenging when you face regular discouragement from not achieving your goals, no matter how hard you work. A significant liposuction benefit is that it can help you achieve the aesthetic goals you’ve been working so hard for. You can finally say goodbye to those stubborn fat deposits! Suitable for People at All Levels of Physical Fitness One of the best liposuction benefits is it’s suitable for patients at all fitness levels, from those who exercise regularly to those who don’t work out at all. We often perform liposuction on physically active patients who eat well but simply can’t get rid of fat in their problem areas. Liposuction in Beverly Hills Although liposuction is a considerably safe procedure, you want to carefully choose your provider so that you can enjoy all of the liposuction benefits. Is Breast Augmentation Permanent?
For many women, the topic of breasts can be difficult. While some women feel that their breasts are too large, other women may feel self-conscious because they feel like their breasts are too small. If you’re in the latter category, then you should know that breast enhancement procedures can help you achieve your ideal body shape and feel more confident. With Dr. Bruce Kadz in Beverly Hills, CA, you can achieve long-lasting and natural-looking results with breast augmentation. Is Breast Augmentation Permanent? One of the biggest questions patients have about breast augmentation is whether or not the results are permanent. The truth is that while implants or breast enhancement surgery can produce results that last for decades, most women shouldn’t plan on results that will last a lifetime. At most, augmentation for the breasts can have results that last for 10 to 20 years before there are any noticeable changes in the appearance of the breasts. Several factors may contribute to how long your augmentation results will last. For example, some women opt to have implants removed after several years because they have a new body shape preference or because they want smaller or larger implants. Some other reasons why your results may not last a lifetime include: Pregnancy Pregnancy is one of the most common reasons why the breasts change shape or size over a lifetime. Many women will not have the same breast volume after pregnancy or even breastfeeding. Even women who have implants may notice changes in their breast appearance because of a pregnancy. This is usually thanks to the way fatty tissue in the breasts alters with pregnancy and because milk production causes the breasts to swell. The fact that pregnancy can alter the results of your procedure, as well as the fact that pregnancy can alter the appearance of natural breasts, is one of the main reasons why your surgeon may recommend postponing any breast procedure until after you are no longer planning on having children. By postponing augmentation, you will be able to enjoy uninterrupted results. That said, it will still be possible to breastfeed even after breast enhancement, so there is no clinical reason to postpone a procedure. Body Weight As your body weight changes, so will the appearance of your breasts. Women who gain significant weight will notice larger breasts, while women who lose significant weight will notice smaller breasts. One reason why the results of your procedure may not last forever is simply that your body weight has changed. This is why it’s important to maintain a healthy body weight after your procedure so your results will remain consistent for several years to come. Implant Life As a note, breast implants don’t have an expiration date. In perfect circumstances, most implants can last at least 20 years or longer. However, several factors may impact the life of the implant, such as the quality of the implant sac, the implant filling type, and even the placement of the implant. Women who have been in high-impact accidents may also have a shorter implant life. Breast implants are made to be durable, but various changes in the body or even personal preferences may prompt women to replace implants. That said, as long as you are satisfied with your results, there should be no clinical reason to replace or remove breast implants unless the implant has leaked or ruptured. This can always be checked with annual mammograms. Aging Finally, the last reason your implants may not last a lifetime is due to aging. As you age, the breast tissue will become thinner, particularly as you lose fat and volume in your breasts. With less breast volume in general, implants placed above the pectoral muscle will become more noticeable – you may even start to feel the creases of the implant or the valve as you become older. In this case, mature women who still want to have breast enhancement may want to consider a revision surgery that will adjust the placement of the implants. What Happens If Implants Aren’t Replaced? Although up to 20% of people with breast implants will have their implants replaced or removed within 10 years of the surgery, many people will allow breast implants to remain for longer than 10 or 20 years. People who have not encountered any implant trouble for 10 to 20 years may choose to let the implant remain unaltered, especially older women. But what happens if implants aren’t replaced? Because implants don’t expire, there may not be any consequences if you choose not to replace implants after 10 to 20 years. However, older implants may be prone to ruptures that may cause the implant to deflate, leading to noticeable cosmetic changes that may need to be repaired. Older implants are also vulnerable to capsular contracture, which is when hard scar tissue develops around breast implants, which can cause discomfort or noticeable cosmetic concerns. In either of these cases, it’s a good idea to see a plastic surgeon for a consultation about replacing implants. Is It a Myth That You Need to Replace Implants Every 10 Years? The estimate of how long breast implants will remain strong and unaltered is usually 10 to 20 years. However, there is a common myth that women who have breast implants will need to replace their implants every 10 years. While breast augmentation results may not last a lifetime, many women who have intact implants will be able to enjoy their results for most of their lives without any need to make changes unless aging or weight loss has significantly altered breast volume. The idea that breast implants should be replaced every 10 years, regardless of whether or not there is a medical need, is likely connected to the product warranty of the implants. Most breast implants have a warranty period of at least 10 years, which is how long the manufacturer will replace damaged implants. But if your implants are still in good condition after 10 years, there is no need to have them changed. Is Breast Revision the Same as the Original Surgery? In many ways, the procedure to revise breast augmentation has many of the same steps as your original surgery. For this procedure, you can also expect general anesthesia to be used for the duration of your surgery. For a breast augmentation revision, your implants will simply be replaced in most cases. If your implants are placed in a different area, such as below the muscle instead of above it, then your procedure may have a few extra steps. In any case, the recovery for both breast augmentation and any revision procedures will be the same. You will need to take some time off of work, wear specialty compression garments, and refrain from strenuous activity for several weeks. Some women may choose to return to work two to four weeks after a breast procedure, but this will depend on their occupation and workload. Why Do Women Consider Augmentation? An augmentation procedure is simply a way to enhance the size and shape of the breasts. While a breast lift will lift the breasts into a higher position (with or without implants) and a reduction will nip excess fat and tissue to lighten the breasts, an augmentation procedure uses implants to create a volume that fundamentally alters the silhouette of your body. Some of the most common reasons to have this procedure include: Feel more confident Regain bustline Balance body shape Correct asymmetry Increase volume Who Are Good Candidates? Women have several motivations for seeking breast enhancement surgery. Regardless of your reason for this procedure, Dr. Bruce Kadz will work with you to select breast implants and devise a procedure plan for implant placement that will help you achieve all of your aesthetic goals. Enjoy Long-Lasting Results Breast implants usually don’t last a lifetime for various reasons, but the vast majority of women can expect the results of their procedure to last for 10 to 20 years. Some women may not even require revision surgery if there are no issues with the implants or medical reasons to revise the augmentation procedure. You want to know that the doctor you pick can meet your unique needs and achieve your cosmetic goals. This is why it’s important to do your research in advance and ask the answers that matter. When looking at potential surgeons, there are certain questions you’ll want to ask yourself, the surgeon, or their staff. Here are just six of those crucial questions: Are They Board-Certified? Before meeting with a plastic surgeon for a consultation, you’ll want to confirm that they are board-certified. This ensures that they have met the necessary criteria to perform plastic surgical procedures. The last thing you want is to seek treatment with a provider who has not met industry standards. Do They Perform the Procedure You’re Seeking? Once you’ve confirmed that a surgeon is board-certified, you will want to look at what procedures they offer. Most plastic surgeons provide a wide range of cosmetic procedures, performing everything from vaginal rejuvenation to facelifts. Many providers also offer non-surgical options that act as an alternative to some of the most common cosmetic surgeries. Are They Willing to Meet with You for a Consultation? An initial consultation can give you a good idea of a plastic surgeon’s communication style and approach. A top plastic surgeon should be attentive to your needs, asking questions when necessary to fully understand your aesthetic goals. A plastic surgeon should also be able to outline how they will help you to achieve those goals. In many cases, a surgeon can even share “before” and “after pictures” for past patients who have had similar treatments or procedures performed in the past. This can help you to understand the outcomes that you can achieve with their assistance. Last, but not least, a top plastic surgeon should always be willing to answer any questions that you might have, whether they relate to recovery timelines, aftercare procedures, or alternative treatment options. Don’t underestimate the value of a plastic surgeon who has an incredible bedside manner. The very best plastic surgeons will be responsive, respectful, communicative, and attentive to your needs, helping you to remain completely at ease. What Are Their Patient Testimonials Like? One of the biggest deciding factors when choosing a plastic surgeon is looking at their patient testimonials. Have previous patients had a good experience with them? You want to be aware of any horror stories or bad outcomes that other patients may have had. If the patient testimonials are overwhelmingly great, you may have found the right surgeon to perform your procedure. You should also ask to see before and after photos from the specific procedure you’re seeking. This will help give you an idea of how well this surgeon can perform that particular surgery. Where Do They Perform Their Plastic Surgeries? Every plastic surgeon has a different setup in their clinic. Knowing where your surgery will be performed is important. Do they have a surgical suite on-site at their clinic? Will your surgery be in a plastic surgery center that is separate from the main clinic? Will it be in a hospital instead? Most cosmetic surgeons perform surgeries in an on-site surgical suite, but you should always ask for confirmation. Many patients have a preference as to where their surgery will be performed. Some prefer on-site surgical suites since they feel more comfortable having every part of the process take place at the same location. How Far In Advance Will You Need to Book Your Surgery? Plastic surgery in Beverly Hills is often in high demand. This means that some plastic surgeons may be completely booked out months into the future. If you are looking to have your plastic surgery by a certain date, this could influence your decision. It’s important that you don’t settle for a less qualified plastic surgeon only because they have availability sooner. Finding a highly skilled and professional doctor to perform your plastic surgery is the most important part of this process. What to Know If You’re Considering Breast Augmentation
If you’re looking to enhance the size or shape of your breasts in the new year, you might be interested in the benefits that breast augmentation can provide. Breast augmentation can add volume to your breasts, making them fuller and rounder. This cosmetic procedure can also lift sagging breasts, giving them a more firm and youthful look. Dr. Bruce Kadz at Kadz Plastic Surgery in Beverly Hills provides breast augmentation surgery to help patients improve their figure. To learn more about breast augmentation and how it is performed, check out this complete guide below. What Is Breast Augmentation? Also known as “breast enhancement,” breast augmentation is a plastic surgery procedure that aims to enhance the appearance of your breasts by increasing their fullness and forming them into a more desirable shape. It is very different from breast reconstruction surgery, which reconstructs a woman’s breasts after a mastectomy. Breast augmentation is also sometimes referred to as “getting implants.” Implants are a part of the breast augmentation procedure. This surgery uses silicone or saline implants to add volume to the breasts, increasing their size and enhancing their shape. The procedure can also lift the breasts and reduce sagging resulting from age, weight loss, or genetics. An Ideal Candidate for Breast Augmentation Surgery The ideal candidate for a breast augmentation procedure is anyone who wants to enhance the appearance of their breasts by adding volume and improving the shape. If you feel that your breasts are too small, breast augmentation can increase your cup size via implants. Breast enhancement is also an excellent option for women who feel their breasts sit too low or sag downward. Breast augmentation can add volume to the breasts and lift them upwards. This is why breast enhancement is a popular surgery amongst older women or women who have seen a change in their breasts after pregnancy and childbirth. Breast augmentation can also resolve asymmetry. Many women have one breast that is slightly smaller or sits lower than the other. A breast enhancement procedure can adjust the breasts to make them more symmetrical. This procedure is also an option for breast cancer survivors who underwent a mastectomy and wish to restore their bustline. What the Breast Augmentation Procedure Entails Before breast augmentation, it’s important to be well-informed on the procedure. Learn more about the complete breast augmentation process here: Consultation Every patient is different and has their own unique needs. For that reason, you will need to schedule a consultation with the surgeon prior to booking any plastic surgery procedure. The doctor will use this appointment to assess your health, medical history, and cosmetic goals in order to determine whether you are a suitable candidate for breast augmentation. If you are, you will be able to schedule your breast enhancement procedure. Preparation Preparing for breast augmentation surgery will require a complete medical clearance with your regular physician. This is to ensure that you are in good health and can undergo anesthesia. Once you receive medical clearance, you can move forward to the day of your surgery. Procedure The breast augmentation procedure is performed under general anesthesia. After making discreet incisions, the doctor will insert implants under the surface of the skin. These implants may be saline, silicone, or structured saline. The surgeon will determine the best type of implant for your particular case during the consultation and pre-surgery phases. If necessary, a breast lift can be performed along with your augmentation in order to make the breasts sit higher than they do naturally. Recovery Recovery time can vary from patient to patient after a breast augmentation. Patients are typically able to return to work about one week after their procedure. Complete recovery time can take about six weeks. During your initial consultation, your plastic surgeon will go into further detail on what the recovery process will entail. They will also address any questions or concerns you may have regarding your recovery. Results After your breast augmentation, it can take several months for your implants to “settle.” At that point, you will see the final results of the procedure. Most patients see the final outcome at about three to four months. While every patient’s anatomy is different, you may be able to get an idea of what breast augmentation results look like by viewing before and after photos from your doctor’s previous patients. Make sure you take this step before scheduling your procedure! Who Is a Good Candidate for a Mommy Makeover?
Most women are ecstatic when they find out they are pregnant. However, after the pregnancy and breastfeeding are over, many women lose their younger appearance. This is because the body has undergone a lot of changes during pregnancy, and even more changes after giving birth. At Dr. Bruce Kadz in Beverly Hills, CA, we offer a mommy makeover to help women restore their pre-pregnancy appearance and feel like themselves again. Who Is a Good Candidate for a Mommy Makeover? 1. You’re at Your Ideal Body Weight Your body weight can affect your results in two ways. First, excess weight can put unnecessary strain on your incisions and disrupt the healing process. In the long-term, being overweight or obese can stretch out your skin and cause your skin to sag prematurely. For these reasons, it is important to be at your ideal body weight before you have a makeover. There are many ways to achieve your ideal body weight, including diet and exercise. However, if you are unable to reach your ideal body weight on your own, you may need to consider other options such as liposuction. We will work with you to determine the best course of action for achieving your weight loss goals. 2. You’re in Good Medical Health Some of the things we’ll look at when reviewing your medical health and history include your weight, blood pressure, and overall physical condition. We’ll also take into consideration any previous surgeries or medical conditions that could affect your ability to heal after surgery. If you’re not in good medical health, there’s a greater risk that you could develop complications after surgery. For this reason, it’s important to be honest with us about your medical history and current health so that we can determine if a makeover is right for you. 3. You Have Realistic Expectations Having realistic expectations helps you remain patient during the healing process and prevents disappointment with your final results. Some factors that play a role in the overall outcome are the pre-existing contours of your body, skin laxity, and the amount of fat and tissue you are looking to have removed. During your initial consultation, we will go over your goals and answer any questions you may have. This ensures that you’re informed and comfortable with the decisions you are making. 4. You’re Done Having Children Many mothers opt to undergo a makeover after they are done having children, as this ensures that they will be able to fully enjoy the results of the procedure. This is because pregnancy and breastfeeding can often cause significant changes to a woman’s body, including stretched skin and deflated breasts. By waiting until you’re done having children, you can avoid having to repeat the procedures in the future. Additionally, since the results of a makeover are usually long-lasting, waiting until you’re done having children provides mothers with a way to permanently reclaim their pre-baby body. Benefits of a Mommy Makeover 1. Removes Excess Skin and Fat Around the Stomach, Waist, and Hips When you become pregnant, your body undergoes a number of changes in order to accommodate the growing fetus. Among other things, hormones cause the skin to stretch and the abdominal muscles to relax. This can result in excess skin and fat around the stomach, waist, and hips. While these changes are necessary for a healthy pregnancy, they can be difficult to reverse after the baby is born. Even with diet and exercise, many women find that they are unable to achieve their pre-pregnancy figure. A makeover procedure helps to remove excess skin and fat around the stomach, waist, and hips, making the body look more toned. 2. Restores Muscle Tone in the Stomach and Abdominal Area The stomach and abdominal muscles are subject to a great deal of stress during pregnancy, and as a result, they can become weak and stretched out. A makeover can help to reverse this process, restoring the muscles to their pre-pregnancy state. It’s essential to perform regular exercises that target these muscles in order to maintain muscle tone in the stomach and abdominal area. Additionally, eating a healthy diet and maintaining a healthy weight will help to keep the muscles strong. 3. Removes Stretch Marks or Loose Skin on the Breasts In pregnancy and lactation, breasts undergo great changes. The milk-producing cells grow and multiply, the fatty tissue enlarges, and the ducts that carry milk to the nipple widen. These changes cause the skin to stretch, which can result in stretch marks. In addition, breasts may become larger and heavier, leading to sagging. After pregnancy and lactation, many women are concerned about the appearance of their breasts. A makeover can help to restore volume and lift sagging breasts, giving women the confidence they need to feel good about their bodies after pregnancy and lactation. 4. Corrects Uneven Breasts or Nipples There are a few different factors that can cause breasts and nipples to look uneven during pregnancy or after giving birth. First, the amount of fat and tissue in the breasts can change during pregnancy and breastfeeding, resulting in different sizes. Second, the position of the nipple can change, making one breast look higher or lower than the other. Lastly, changes in hormone levels can also cause the breasts to look different from each other. While this is all perfectly normal, it’s understandable that many women want to restore their pre-pregnancy bodies. A makeover can help to restore symmetry and balance to the breasts and nipples, giving mothers the confidence they need to feel their best. 5. Corrects Poor Posture From Pregnancy Carrying a pregnancy takes a toll on a woman’s body. The added weight of the baby and the change in center of gravity can cause a woman to develop poor posture. Additionally, nursing and caring for a child can further contribute to back and shoulder pain. As a result, many mothers end up with rounded shoulders and a hunched back. A makeover can help to correct this problem by restoring the muscles and tissues to their pre-pregnancy state. In addition, breast surgery can help to alleviate the strain on the back and shoulders that are often caused by large breasts. Correcting these issues not only helps to improve a woman’s posture but also reduces her risk of developing chronic back pain. Common Procedures Done During a Mommy Makeover Liposuction Liposuction is a cosmetic surgery that removes excess fat from the body. It is typically done with a thin tube, called a cannula, and a suctioning device. The cannula is inserted through small incisions in the skin and moved back and forth to break up the fat cells. The fat cells are then suctioned out of the body. The results of liposuction are typically long-lasting, as the fat cells are removed from the body permanently. However, it is important to maintain a healthy lifestyle after liposuction to avoid gaining weight and developing new areas of fat. Arm Tuck The goal of arm tuck surgery is to create a more toned and sculpted appearance for your upper arms. This can be especially beneficial for people who have lost a significant amount of weight. The arm tuck procedure is typically performed under general anesthesia. Results of this procedure can last for a decade or more, assuming you lead a healthy lifestyle to avoid gaining weight. Brazilian Butt Lift The Brazilian butt lift is a cosmetic procedure that involves taking fat from other areas of the body, such as the thighs or abdomen, and injecting it into the buttocks. This can help to create a more voluptuous look and can also be used to correct volume loss that has occurred due to aging or weight loss. In addition, the procedure can help to improve the shape of the buttocks and create a more lifted appearance. Vaginal Rejuvenation Vaginal rejuvenation is a catch-all term for any surgical or non-surgical procedure that aims to improve the appearance, function, or sensation of the vagina. The most common procedures performed during vaginal rejuvenation include labiaplasty, which reduces the size of the labia; vaginoplasty, which tightens the vaginal opening and canal; and clitoral hood reduction, which exposes more of the clitoris. These procedures can be done alone or in combination. Don’t Let Motherhood Take Away Your Sense of Self! Good candidates for a mommy makeover are mothers who are in good overall health, have realistic expectations for the outcome of surgery, and are finished having children. Some of the benefits of a mommy makeover include an improved self-image and enhanced body contour. Contact us today at Dr. Bruce Kadz in Beverly Hills, CA, to learn more about whether or not you are a good candidate for surgery.
Are Lipo Results Permanent?
Has your self-confidence plummeted as a result of gradual weight gain over the years? Have you tried everything to lose weight, including fad diets, weight loss shakes, fat-burning teas, and even ephedra? Are you concerned that you cannot sculpt your ideal contours on your own? Having a lipo procedure with Dr. Bruce Kadz of Kadz Plastic Surgery in Beverly Hills, CA, may be the solution you’re looking for. Is Lipo Permanent? Fat cells have a unique nature that allows liposuction to produce permanent results. Almost every other type of cell in your body, such as skin cells, can be regenerated, but when you reach the age of 25, your body is no longer able to produce new fat cells. For a solid understanding of what results can realistically be expected from this procedure, though, you must first understand its scope. During this procedure, only a portion of the fat cells in the treated areas are removed. Based on such factors as your body fat distribution, your goals, and the size of the area targeted for treatment, the specific percentage of localized fat cells that are removed will vary. It is possible to eliminate up to 80% of fat cells from a small area, but in a large area, we may only remove around 26% of fat cells. It’s important to remember that fat can still be stored in the remaining fat cells. Your body will never re-grow new fat cells to replace the ones you lost in lipo, but you can undo your own results by eating too much of the wrong foods. It’s important to maintain a healthy diet to keep your results for life. How Can I Maintain My Results? Maintaining your improved contours requires a balance between what you eat and what you do. Every now and then, you can consume too many calories, especially if you make up for it by eating less the next day or two. Nevertheless, it is important that you do not gain more than 10 pounds of fat after your procedure. Genetics determines how fat is stored, but most people store fat in one area at a time. If you gain weight, there’s a good chance the remaining fat cells in your problem areas will continue to grow. That’s because your body decides where to distribute fat. Maintaining your weight by using some of these tips is highly recommended: Build Muscle Lifting weights helps maintain your ideal contours because it helps you build muscle. Because muscle is two and a half times as metabolically active as fat, building muscle mass is an excellent way to maintain your ideal shape. That is to say, your muscles burn more calories than your fat cells even while you are sleeping, rest, or otherwise not using them. Muscle tissue gives you the ability to eat more calories while maintaining your ideal body shape. Using proper form, using a spotter when necessary, pushing your muscles to exhaustion, and eating plenty of protein afterward are all key to gaining muscle effectively. If you don’t have anyone to spot for you, stick to weight machines that help you move efficiently and correctly. You also don’t need to go quickly: all that does is use momentum instead of actual muscle to do a lot of the work. Instead, go slowly, never letting the weights rest at the end of a rep. Keep going until you literally cannot push or pull the weight again. This is “muscle exhaustion” and means you’ve emptied your muscles of all their spare sugar reserves. Over the next day or two, your muscles will rebuild themselves even larger than before. Take It Easy on the Booze and Soda After a long day of work, there is nothing wrong with relaxing with a cold beer or glass of wine. Alcohol should, however, be consumed in moderation. A unit of alcohol contains 96 calories if it is a single shot of liquor. Beer and wine contain well over 100 calories per unit due to the carbohydrates present in the beverages. If you like sugary mixers, the calorie count goes up a lot faster than you might think. Soda is another diet killer. It’s far too easy to drink your calories, and yet you don’t feel as satisfied after drinking them as you do after eating them. Even diet sodas are now suspect: despite the fact that they don’t have calories in lab tests, people who drink a lot of them still struggle to lose weight. It may just be that your body is too smart not to react even to “fake” sweeteners. Walk and Swim You don’t have to go pounding down the pavement or spend hours on the elliptical or bike to maintain your results. In fact, you shouldn’t. These exercises are very hard on your joints, and you can get just as much benefit from walking and swimming, which are easy on the joints (and often easier to fit into your life, too). The important thing is to pair your aerobic exercise with weight lifting. Aerobics on their own don’t do much unless you remain in a constant calorie deficit (read: hungry all the time). But by combining these types of exercises with weight lifting, you can build muscle while also staying active, keeping your blood moving, and remaining limber. Am I a Good Candidate for This Procedure? A consultation is necessary to determine if you are a good candidate for liposuction. There are several things that will take place during your consultation. We need to verify that you have no medical conditions that would preclude you from this procedure, for example. Your current health and medications taken in the last two weeks will also be discussed. We will also assess your areas of concern to determine whether lipo would be beneficial for you, in addition to determining whether you are healthy enough for this procedure. Having sufficient excess subcutaneous fat in your target areas is important as well as not having too much excess subcutaneous fat. Here are some of the things we will discuss: Your Medical Condition Most people are good candidates for this procedure, but it’s still important for us to evaluate a few things. Be sure to bring a list of all medications and supplements you’re currently taking. We may need to ask you to pause a few things before your lipo treatment, so in some cases, we’ll need to discuss with your doctor about whether that’s safe for you. If your main concern is cellulite rather than actual fat, this might not be the right choice for you. But when you come to talk with us, we can help you decide on what’s right for you. Family Plans During your initial consultation, we will discuss your family planning goals with you. It is important to keep in mind that if you decide to become pregnant after your procedure, you may gain fat. Some people lose pregnancy weight quickly, while others struggle with it for years. Getting pregnant may require you to undergo a maintenance procedure in the future if you want to keep your results permanent. Body Fat Distribution Weight and body fat distribution will be taken into account when determining if you are a good candidate. There should be enough fat in the areas you are targeting for treatment, but not too much fat. A candidate must be at least 30 pounds from his or her ideal weight to qualify for this procedure. The idea is to keep your weight no more than 30 pounds away from your goal weight since fat loss is similar to taking a sheet off of a roll of paper towels. Taking a sheet off a new roll does not make a noticeable difference. Removing a sheet makes a big difference when there are only a few left. An area of concern should have at least an inch of pinchable fat, but the smaller the area, the less fat there will usually be. Talk to Us To Get Started Although liposuction permanently eliminates fat cells from the body, the permanence of your new contours is entirely up to you. After your procedure, your remaining fat cells may store excess fat if you don’t maintain a healthy lifestyle. Schedule your initial consultation with Dr. Bruce Kadz at Kadz Plastic Surgery in Beverly Hills, CA, to learn more about this procedure and what you can do to maintain your ideal contours.
