CO2 Laser Resurfacing
in Beverly Hills, CA

Many of us want smooth, even-toned, flawless skin, yet very few people have a naturally blemish-free appearance. It is entirely normal for imperfections such as acne scars, fine lines, wrinkles, uneven skin tone, and age spots to develop over the years. Some people dislike how these imperfections can draw attention away from their other features and, in many cases, make them look older than they really are. It can be difficult to feel completely confident in yourself when skin concerns bother you.
Kadz Plastic Surgery offers CO2 laser resurfacing to help patients address skin concerns and create a smoother, more even skin appearance. This treatment can be a transformative nonsurgical method for patients seeking clearer, smoother, younger-looking skin.

What Is CO2 Laser Resurfacing?
Laser skin resurfacing treatments offer facial rejuvenation benefits and can even be an alternative to facial surgeries for patients who are not yet ready for that level of correction. CO2 (carbon dioxide) laser resurfacing uses ablative lasers to remove the outer skin layer, thus removing the visible imperfections. These laser beams go beneath the skin’s surface and stimulate collagen production, allowing newer and smoother skin to replace the removed layer. The result is clearer, more youthful-looking skin, free of previous skin concerns.

How Is CO2 Laser Resurfacing Performed?
The first step in your laser resurfacing treatment is a consultation, during which you will discuss your skin concerns and goals. If you are a good candidate for this procedure, you will receive a customized treatment plan designed to achieve your desired facial aesthetic.
On the day of your CO2 laser resurfacing appointment, your selected treatment areas will be numbed with local anesthesia to make for a more comfortable experience. Your skin will be cleansed, and you’ll be given protective goggles for your eyes. Your surgeon will pass the laser device over the chosen area, allowing the laser beams to penetrate the skin, remove the outer layer, and increase collagen. Once the laser treatment is finished, your surgeon will apply a dressing to the skin to protect the freshly treated area and help the healing process.
The total treatment time typically takes half an hour to two hours, depending on the chosen treatment area and the extent of correction needed.
What Is CO2 Laser Resurfacing Recovery Like?
After treatment, your skin will be red and swollen. Many patients feel the recovery process is similar to a mild sunburn. It is essential to keep your skin clean and avoid picking at it, even if you experience itching. Five to seven days after treatment, your skin will naturally peel, revealing newer skin underneath. Be sure to follow your surgeon’s aftercare instructions for cleansing and moisturizing your skin to ensure the best results.
What Results Can I Expect After CO2 Laser Resurfacing?
Once the outer layer of skin peels away, the newer skin will be revealed. However, this new skin will initially be a bit pink and will turn to a more natural skin tone color in two to three months. Around this time, most patients can enjoy smoother, clearer results. To care for your skin and prolong your results, it is important to always wear sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or more to protect your skin from the sun.
