How Versatile is Botox?

One of the most popular cosmetic treatments available on the market today, BOTOX® has many benefits. BOTOX® is largely known for treating stubborn facial lines caused by expressions. But that is just the beginning of what BOTOX® can do.

BOTOX® is FDA approved to improve not only expression lines, but the lines on the forehead as well. BOTOX® injections can help relax those forehead muscles and help reduce lines and creases on your forehead. Previously, BOTOX® was approved for successfully treating the appearance of crow’s feet and frown lines near the eyes. It only makes sense that progression in this area would move upward on the facial muscles and treat the forehead as well.

The FDA has also approved the use of BOTOX® for the treatment of migraines. Originally designed as a treatment for crossed eyes and eyelid spasms, doctors noticed during these treatments that patients were now reporting less headaches. Patients suffering from extreme migraines can receive injections once every three months. Proper treatments can cut the number of days you experience migraines in half.

But it doesn’t just stop at the facial area. If you suffer from hyperhidrosis (also known as excessive armpit sweating), BOTOX® can help with that as well. Injections to the armpit block the nerves from reaching the sweat glands to reduce sweating. This can be used as a possible alternative to surgery for this issue, which also reduces the time you would need to heal.

Perhaps one of the most surprising uses for BOTOX® is in the treatment and prevention of foot pain. Women wearing high heels, or people that are harder on their feet (like athletes), BOTOX® is considered to be an orthopedic option to reduce foot pain. This can also help with overactive sweating or tight muscle contraction of the calves.

BOTOX® is not just for wrinkles. When most people think of BOTOX®, they likely think of treating a few wrinkles here and there on the face, but as you can see that’s simply the starting point for all that BOTOX® is capable of. If you’re considering BOTOX® treatments as an option for any of the above, be sure to speak with Dr. Kadz and his team to find out what the right solution is for you.
