Labiaplasty, also known as vaginal rejuvenation, is a procedure designed to modify the labia minora, labia majora, or both. The labia minora are the inner lips of your vagina and the labia majora are the outer lips of your vagina. At the office of Dr. Bruce Kadz in Beverly Hills, CA, your comfort, satisfaction, and safety are our top priorities. While sexual health can be a sensitive subject, there is no need to feel embarrassed or ashamed. If you think you could benefit from the reduction or reshaping of your labia, please don’t hesitate to call the office of Dr. Bruce Kadz in Beverly Hills, CA to schedule a consultation. In the meantime, it may help to know some things about this procedure: How Long Does Labiaplasty Take? Most labiaplasty procedures take between an hour or two. If you are only having your inner lips or outer lips altered, the procedure will take around an hour. If you are having both of your lips altered, or you are having your lips altered and your vaginal walls tightened, your procedure will take a couple of hours. However, if you are having other procedures performed at the same time as labiaplasty, the length of your procedure can be extended by up to six hours. For example, this procedure is often performed as part of a mommy makeover. What Happens During Vaginal Rejuvenation? During your vaginal rejuvenation procedure, we will start by trimming the hair around your vagina if you did not trim or shave before you came in. Then, we will cleanse the area to ensure that you do not get an infection caused by bacteria on your skin getting inside. Next, we will administer either general anesthesia or local anesthesia and sedation. General anesthesia numbs your entire body and puts you to sleep. Local anesthesia is administered via injection to the pelvic region and does not put you to sleep. However, sedation will put you to sleep so you don’t feel anxious or nervous about the procedure. Depending on your goals, Dr. Bruce Kadz may remove excess skin, reshape your skin or remove excess fat. Am I a Good Candidate for This Procedure? A good candidate for labiaplasty is a woman who believes her comfort and self-confidence could be improved by altering the lips of her vagina. She is in fairly good emotional and physical health and choosing this procedure for herself rather than for the benefit of a partner. She has realistic expectations regarding the preparation for the procedure, the procedure itself, the recovery, and the results. To ensure that vaginal rejuvenation is right for you, we will review your medical history, assess your current health, perform a physical evaluation and discuss your goals and expectations. Do I Have to Be a Mom to Be a Good Candidate for This Procedure? While this procedure is often performed as part of a mommy makeover, you do not have to be a mom to be a good candidate for this procedure. You may be a good candidate for this procedure if you have never given birth. This procedure may be right for you even if you have never given vaginal birth. There are several factors that can change your vagina. For example, the aging process begins to affect your skin at age 30. Your skin starts to produce collagen and elastin fibers at a reduced rate and your skin becomes lax. What Results Can I Expect From This Procedure? The results of the procedure vary on a case-by-case basis. The techniques used during the procedure will be tailored to what you are trying to accomplish. For example, we can focus on only your inner lips, only your outer lips, both your inner and outer lips, or only focus on your left inner lip. When considering this procedure, it is important to note that there is a very wide range of “normal” lengths of your vaginal lips. Just because you think your lips are too long or large doesn’t mean that they are. It is also important to note that if you are satisfied with the appearance of one side of your vagina, we can alter the other side to match the other. How Drastically Will This Procedure Rejuvenate My Vagina? No vaginal rejuvenation procedure or treatment will make you feel or look 18 again. However, your self-confidence will be improved. If you’re worried about asymmetry, that can be corrected. If your lips are so large you feel self-conscious wearing skinny jeans, tight dresses, or bathing suits, you will feel comfortable in such clothes. Because this procedure can also rejuvenate the vaginal walls and improve natural lubrication, sex will feel better than it has in years. Nobody can ever reverse the aging process entirely. But you can certainly pause it and slow the process. What Can I Expect During the Recovery Process? It can take up to two months for your skin to settle fully into its new shape and position. However, if you are between the ages of 18 and 29 and fairly healthy, it should only take around a month for your final results to be visible. As for the recovery process itself, you will only need to take 10 to 14 days off of work or school to heal. During your recovery process, you should wear soft, loose underwear and skirts or sweatpants to prevent abrasive rubbing. If you menstruate during your recovery process, use sanitary napkins rather than tampons. Keep your skin clean and dry to prevent a yeast infection or urinary tract infection. How Soon After the Procedure Can I Have Sex? You should not have sex until your skin has fully healed. On average, this will be around six weeks post-op. During this time it is also important that you do not consume tobacco products, like chewing tobacco or cigarettes, and alcohol. You should also avoid vigorous exercise for six to 12 weeks depending on how you’re feeling. However, walking regularly is strongly encouraged. Walking supports a strong circulatory system that encourages rapid recovery. Is This Just a Cosmetic Procedure? Vaginal rejuvenation is not just a cosmetic procedure. It can alter the size and shape of the vaginal lips. However, it can also tighten the vaginal walls, improving the quality of orgasms. This procedure can also be used for other medical purposes, like treating vaginal dryness and urinary incontinence. How Long Do the Results Last? The results of this procedure last, on average, 10 to 15 years regarding the reversal of skin laxity. The younger and healthier you are, the longer your skin will remain tight. However, if you are in your 60s and regularly smoke and drink alcohol, you may need a follow-up procedure in seven to 10 years. Will This Procedure Impair the Sensations of My Labia? Absolutely not. You will have just as much sense after your procedure as you did before the procedure. The difference is the type of sensation you will experience. Often, people who seek this procedure feel pain or discomfort during sex because there is so much excess labia skin that it rubs or pinches. Between the rejuvenation of the skin and the increased production of natural lubrication, sex will be more enjoyable than it ever has been. Even better, since you will no longer need to rely on artificial lubrication, sex can be more spontaneous and carefree than it ever has been. Will There Be Visible Scarring? No. While incisions are required to perform this procedure, they will not result in visible scarring. Dr. Bruce Kadz takes care to make the incisions within the natural folds or your tissues. What Is a Mommy Makeover? A mommy makeover is a series of procedures performed to rejuvenate a woman after childbirth. The procedures included depending on your unique aesthetic goals. However, we often perform abdominoplasty, a breast lift, and a breast reduction or breast augmentation along with labiaplasty. Other options include an arm lift, thigh lift, and liposuction. Book an Appointment Today Labiaplasty usually doesn’t take more than an hour or two. But it can last over six hours if it is performed at the same time as other procedures as part of a mommy makeover. To learn more about this procedure, please contact us today at the office of Dr. Bruce Kadz in Beverly Hills, CA to schedule your initial consultation.
Will My Kybella Results Be Permanent?
Curious about noninvasive treatment options to minimize the appearance of a double chin or fullness under the jawline? Dr. Bruce Kadz in Beverly Hills, CA is proud to offer Kybella permanent, life-changing results. Submental Fullness This is a fancy way of saying, “double chin.” Though it’s usually associated with being overweight, that isn’t always the case. The issue is very common, and many of us are genetically predisposed to it. A double chin can add years to your profile and make you appear to be carrying around more weight than you really are. A 2015 survey conducted by the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery found that 67% of respondents were concerned about submental fullness, or a double chin—nearly as many as the 69% who said they were bothered by lines and wrinkles around their eyes. What Is Kybella? This is the first and only FDA-approved injectable treatment for contouring the chin and neck. It uses a man-made version of deoxycholic acid, which our liver naturally produces to break down fat. Allure magazine named this treatment its 2015 Best Beauty Breakthrough winner, and Elle has referred to it as “liposuction in a syringe.” Unlike neck liposuction or a neck lift, however, this is completely non-surgical. Will My Results Be Permanent? After the deoxycholic acid has destroyed fat cells in the submental area, the results are expected to be lasting. At that point, further treatment is not required as the fat cells are no longer able to store fat. Results from clinical trials have also shown that the effects are maintained over the long term. More About Kybella How Does It Work? The drug targets the submental fat (the fat pocket under the chin). When injected into targeted areas, the subcutaneous fat is dissolved. This cellular debris is then cleared out by specialized immune cells in the lymphatic and circulatory systems. The fat gradually melts away over the span of several weeks as the deoxycholic acid is metabolized, broken down, and then excreted by the body as waste. The process also adds collagen, which tightens the skin. Your chin won’t look as full and your profile will be more defined. What Should I Expect During Treatment? Before we begin, the treatment area will be thoroughly clean, and we will mark the injection sites with a marker. We will apply a topical numbing agent and provide an ice pack to ease any pain or discomfort. Between 20 and 30 injections are typically used under the chin, though some patients may receive as many as 50 injections in a single treatment. Your provider will determine this number based on how much fat is being stored as well as your specific goals. All treatment plans are customized. How Long Does the Treatment Take? Treatment sessions take no more than 30 minutes. Right after your appointment, you should be able to drive home or go to work the same day. There is little to no downtime, but you may want to avoid exercise and another strenuous activity over the first 24 hours after treatment or until the swelling subsides. You may also want to plan social schedules with this in mind. Does It Hurt? The needles used for the injections are ultra-fine, small needles and the injections are placed quickly. Patients are often surprised at how quickly and comfortably the process is completed. Most patients tolerate the treatment very well. Talk to us about a topical anesthetic if you’re worried about needles. Will It Leave a Scar? Since no incisions are needed, there is no scarring. Am I a Candidate? Patients should be over the age of 18 and in good health. We will review your medical history prior to treatment. This treatment is best suited to those who are interested in addressing moderate to severe fat accumulation underneath their chin but who would prefer to avoid more invasive procedures. Ideal candidates have good skin elasticity with small areas of fat that have not responded to diet and exercise. Can Men Receive the Treatment? Absolutely! Just remember to shave beforehand. Who Should Not Receive This Treatment? Patients who also have excess or loose skin below the chin may not be ideal candidates. This treatment should not be performed if you have an infection in the treatment area. It is also not appropriate if you are pregnant or breastfeeding and should not be used in patients with a history of dysphagia or bleeding abnormalities. Is Kybella Safe? Kybella won FDA approval in 2015 after it was tested in 20 clinical studies involving more than 1,600 patients. The treatment relies on a naturally occurring molecule. All of the cells surrounding the treatment remain healthy and intact. How Many Treatments Will I Need? The number of treatment sessions will vary by individual. Patients typically require between two and six sessions to complete the treatment. Appointments are scheduled four to six weeks apart. Dr. Kadz will develop a treatment plan according to your specific needs. Does It Really Work? Two U.S. trials presented to the FDA demonstrated that nearly 80% of those treated noticed a reduction of their submental fat and thus had improved satisfaction about their appearance. How Soon Will I See the Results? Results usually become apparent over the first two or three months. Your results may continue to improve over the next six months following the complete treatment series. You may begin to see results after one or two treatments, but it may take as many as six treatments to see results. In clinical studies, 59% of patients received six treatments. What If I Gain Weight After Treatment? In clinical trials, patients who gained weight after treatment did not experience the redevelopment of their double chin. Even if you gain weight, it may not affect the appearance of your neck or chin, as there will be fewer fat cells remaining. You can always schedule additional treatments to touch up the area, if necessary. Fat reduction treatments work best for individuals whose weight is relatively stable. These treatments are most effective in conjunction with traditional diet and exercise. For added aesthetic enhancement, many patients decide to combine this treatment with the other cosmetic treatments and surgical options we offer. Our trained staff would be happy to discuss your concerns and customize a facial rejuvenation plan based on your aesthetic goals. Can It Be Used On Other Areas? The safety and effectiveness of this treatment for fat outside the submental area has not been established in trials yet, so it is not recommended for use elsewhere at this time. Larger areas may respond better to other treatment options, such as liposuction. How Is This Different From Lasers and Liposuction? Lasers are more effective for skin tightening, but they may cause more discomfort for the patient. Liposuction is very effective and provides results that are instantly noticeable, but it is more invasive, involves incisions, and requires more downtime. Kybella is the best option for those looking to get rid of fat without surgery, downtime, or aftercare. Ready to Say Goodbye to That Chin Fat? Let’s Get Started! There’s no denying that regular exercise and clean eating can go a long way in keeping you fit and trip. There’s also no getting around the fact that you can’t control where your body decides to store fat. Sometimes, submental fat just won’t respond to weight loss. Until recently, your only option for a more defined jawline was cosmetic surgery. If you’ve been bothered by a double chin and you’re looking for an alternative to liposuction or surgery, Kybella may be right for you. Unlike nearly all other cosmetic injectables, this treatment delivers permanent results. Call today to schedule a consultation with Kadz Plastic Surgery in Beverly Hills, CA, and discover how you can restore more youthful contours to your jawline and neck. We’ve got a personalized treatment plan for you.
How Long Does an Eye Lift Last?
At the office of Dr. Bruce Kadz in Beverly Hills, CA, many of our clients are concerned about the appearance of their upper or lower eyelids. They are interested in an eye lift, but they’re not sure yet if it’s right for them. If you are in this same boat, read on to discover everything you need to know about this procedure. Everything You Need to Know About an Eye Lift The Procedure Itself Only Lasts 45 Minutes An eye lift only lasts around 45 minutes. Of course, this depends on whether you are correcting sagging skin on your upper lids, lower lids, or both. It also depends on several other factors, including how extensive you need the procedure to be to achieve your ideal aesthetic. If you are having other procedures performed simultaneously, you’re looking at a couple of hours. The Results Can Last a Lifetime The results of a lower eye lift can last a lifetime. If you receive upper blepharoplasty, you may need a follow-up procedure in five to seven years. Or, you may find that you would benefit more from a brow (forehead) lift. To extend the results of an upper eyelid lift, it is very important to care for your overall health and skin health. To do this, we strongly recommend that our clients stop smoking. You will need to stop smoking in the six weeks preceding and proceeding your procedure, anyway. Nicotine consumption is terrible for the collagen and elastin required to keep your skin tight and smooth. You should also make an effort to remain hydrated and eat plenty of nutrients. The Results Are Rapid Most cosmetic procedures take between six weeks and a year to recover from. It can also take this long to see your results. In stark contrast, it takes only a week or two to recover from this procedure fully and enjoy the full results of your eyelid correction. It Doesn’t Smooth Fine Lines and Wrinkles Most people opt for this procedure to shave years off their faces. However, the procedure does not erase fine lines and wrinkles. If you have anti-aging concerns, such as fine lines, moderate wrinkles and deep folds, you may need another anti-aging procedure performed along with this one. For instance, you may benefit from a facelift. Depending on the signs of aging you are concerned by, you may benefit the most from dermal fillers or Botox. Botox is a neuromodulator approved by the FDA for safety and efficacy in 2002. Interestingly, it was originally approved to stop uncontrollable eyelid muscle spasms. This injectable is used to erase aging lines caused by muscle hyperactivity. The Procedure Is Completely Painless While you may be “under the knife” for a couple of hours, you will experience no pain or discomfort. Before your procedure, your anesthesiologist will consult with Dr. Kadz to review your medical history and determine the safest, most effective form of anesthesia for you to receive. Most of our clients are put under general anesthesia. However, if Dr. Kadz determines that your heart and lungs aren’t healthy enough for you to be put under general anesthesia, you will be put under intravenous or oral sedation and local anesthesia. The Procedure Is Straightforward If you are having both your upper and lower lids lifted, Dr. Kadz will work on your upper eyelids first. The most common technique used involves incising along the natural lines of your upper lids. Through these incisions, the skin is separated from the underlying tissue. Any excess muscle, fat, and skin are removed. Tiny stitches close the incisions. Depending on the technique used for lower blepharoplasty, you may or may not need stitches. If you only need fat removed from your lower eyelid, the incision will be made inside your lower lid. To remove fat, skin, and muscle from the lower lid, the incision will be made along the eyelash margin. Preparation Is Equally Straightforward Whether you are put under general anesthesia or sedation and local anesthesia, you will need someone to drive you to and from your procedure. You also need someone to stay with you for the first 24 hours post-op so you can rest your eyes and focus on your recovery. Expect to not drive for around a week post-op as your eyelids heal. We strongly recommend scheduling a full week off of work, particularly if you have an office job. Some of our clients choose to take two weeks off of work. Stop taking NSAIDs two weeks pre-op and stop consuming nicotine and alcohol pre-op. To prepare your home for your recovery process, please ensure you have the following on hand: Clean washcloths and towels Small gauze pads Eye drops or artificial tears Acetaminophen Ice pack or bags of frozen foods Ice cubes This Procedure Is Commonly Performed Along With a Facelift The collagen and elastin in your eyelids are likely to break down the most quickly due to how thin the skin is in this area. Thus, your eyes are usually the first place to show signs of aging. However, some people don’t consider an eyelid lift until the rest of their face starts to show signs of aging. Therefore, we commonly see people receiving blepharoplasty and a facelift. Just as there are several options for blepharoplasty, there are several types of facelifts. At the office of Dr. Bruce Kadz in Beverly Hills, CA, we offer a deep plane facelift, SMAS (superficial musculoaponeurotic system) lift and mid-facelift. By combining treatments, you ensure just one recovery period and save money. If You Want Dramatic Results, We’ve Got You Covered Besides the three types of facelifts mentioned above, we offer several other types of facelifts. However, our two most popular are the deep plane facelift and SMAS facelift. A facelift involves the removal of excess skin and the tightening and reshaping of the underlying muscle and skin tissue. These procedures provide unbelievably dramatic results. However, with the artful eye and skilled hand of Dr. Kadz, you will still look like yourself. You Are Probably a Good Candidate Most of our clients who receive this procedure are at least 35 years of age. However, if you are younger than 35, you may still be a good candidate for this procedure. For instance, some people are born with bad genes and need this procedure in their 20s or early 30s. During your initial consultation, Dr. Kadz will review your situation to determine if this procedure is for you. Generally, the best candidate for this procedure is a non-smoker who is concerned by drooping or baggy upper or lower eyelids. It is also important that you can stop taking blood thinners and are in fairly good health. Again, Dr. Kadz will review all of this with you during your initial consultation to ensure you are healthy enough to undergo this procedure. Your Health Insurance Provider May Cover Your Procedure If your upper eyelids are sagging so much that they are impeding your vision, schedule a vision test with your ophthalmologist. This test will confirm that your eyelids are impeding your vision and your health insurance provider will cover your procedure if you have met your deductible for the year. You Can Cashflow Your Procedure You don’t have to pay for your procedure upfront if you don’t want to. We are proud to partner with CareCredit and Alphaeon Credit so our clients may pay for their procedure over time with affordable monthly payments and even more affordable interest rates. CareCredit offers several financing options, including 6, 12, 18 and 24 months. Alphaeon Credit offers incredible interest-free financing if you pay for your procedure in full according to your six- or 12-month plan. How Long Does Rhinoplasty Recovery Take?
At the office of Dr. Bruce Kadz in Beverly Hills, CA, we often have clients looking to reshape their nose. Some were born with congenital defects. Others suffered a traumatic sports injury. They all are excited to improve the aesthetic or function of their nose. But they wonder, how long does rhinoplasty recovery take. How Long Does Rhinoplasty Recovery Take? On average, rhinoplasty recovery takes 12 months. This may seem like an incredibly long time, but most of the recovery timeline is comparable to any other cosmetic procedure. For instance, you can start doing cardio within three to four weeks post-op and you can resume resistance training within six weeks post-op. Can I Speed Up the Rhinoplasty Recovery Process? There are several steps you can, and should, take to speed along your recovery process. During your initial consultation, Dr. Bruce Kadz will provide you with a comprehensive list of everything you need to do post-op to ensure a comfortable, relatively swift recovery. Here are some actionable steps you should think about: Listen to Your Doctor Before your rhinoplasty, you will be given several prescriptions to fill, including antibiotics. Take these antibiotics exactly as prescribed, including the dosage and what time of day you take them. Do not fail to take them just because you do not currently have an infection. They are to mitigate risk, not to treat an illness. If you have any questions, please ask during your initial consultation. Before you leave the office after your procedure, you will have another opportunity to ask any questions you may have regarding post-op care. If you have any questions once you’re home, please call us at the office of Dr. Bruce Kadz in Beverly Hills, CA. You will also receive detailed instructions regarding do’s and don’ts and when to follow up. Listen to Your Body Everyone recovers from rhinoplasty differently. Some people are fully alert three hours after their procedure and do puzzles and read books until bedtime. Others drift in and out of sleep for the next 24 hours. If your body is telling you it’s time to rest, rest. Don’t feel like you have to stay alert for a full movie or TV show. Get Plenty of Rest Make a conscious effort to get between 7.5 and 9 hours of sleep each night for the first several weeks post-op. It takes 90 minutes to complete a sleep cycle, so such a sleep schedule will allow you to cycle through all stages of sleep five to six times per night. Your body requires a lot of energy to heal itself. Allow it to recharge its batteries. Keep Your Head Elevated If you sleep on your side after rhinoplasty, you can prolong your recovery time significantly. Under no circumstances should you sleep on your stomach. You need to keep pressure off of your nose for six weeks post-op. To avoid such pressure, sleep with head elevated for six weeks post-op. You can prop up your head using two or three pillows or use a foam wedge. To prevent yourself from tossing and turning in your sleep, try using a travel pillow or building a fort around your neck with rolled up hand towels. Use Cold Compresses To speed your recovery process along, we strongly recommend using a cold compress for five minutes at a time, five times daily in the first 72 hours post-op. However, you must take care to not apply the cold compress to your nose directly. Rather, apply it to your cheeks so you do not accidentally shift any cartilage or bones out of place. If you don’t have a cold compress, you can wrap a bag of frozen peas (or similar frozen food) in a tea towel. Alternatively, you can wrap a bag of ice in a tea towel and apply that to your cheeks. Load Up Your Plate With Fruits and Veggies Loading up your plate with fruits and veggies is one of the best things you can do to speed along your recovery process. Not only does your body require a lot of energy to heal itself, but it also requires plenty of nutrients. Vitamins you need to focus on incorporating into your diet include vitamins A and C. Vitamin A can be found in dark, leafy greens, such as kale and spinach. Vitamin C is found in broccoli, Brussel sprouts, and citrus fruits. Vitamin C is critical for regenerating collagen: the protein that connects your skin tissue. Eat Bioavailable Proteins Speaking of protein, you’ll want to eat plenty of nuts, lean fish, game meat and poultry, eggs, and yogurt, if your diet allows. If you can, eat nuts that are naturally low in fat. Contrastingly, you’ll want to consume full-fat milk, cheeses, and yogurts because they are less processed than reduced-fat or skim options. Protein is an essential building block for your cartilage, blood, and skin. If you’re getting inadequate levels of protein, you’re going to prolong your recovery time. Stay Cool Heat causes tissues to swell. This does no favors for your recovery process. Avoid hot bowls of soup, steamy showers, and saunas. Take lukewarm showers, eat cool or temperate foods, and do your best to stay cool for the first few weeks post-op. Don’t Blow Your Nose If you don’t manage to stay cool, your nasal passages will swell. This will make you feel like you have congestion and need to blow your nose (or eat soup). Resist the urge to blow your nose. If this is too hard for you, call Dr. Kadz and ask about moisturizing your nasal passages gently by using a saline nasal spray for the first six weeks post-op. You can make your own saline nasal spray and store it at room temperature for three days at a time. You just need a cup of distilled water, half of a teaspoon of salt, and half of a teaspoon of baking soda. If you use tap water, boil it to sterilize it. Then allow it to cool to a lukewarm temperature. Put Down the Weights You haven’t skipped leg day since you were old enough to lift. Unfortunately, for the sake of your recovery, you need to avoid strenuous exercise for six weeks post-op. When you come in for your follow-up appointment, you can ask about the intensity level with which you can exercise. However, avoid lifting, bending over or stretching until you get the green light. Put Down Your Sunglasses Remember how you have to avoid putting pressure on your nose for the first six weeks post-op? That includes sunglasses, prescription glasses, and reading glasses. You don’t want a revision procedure in the future because you couldn’t go six weeks without your shades. If you can, switch to contacts. If you can’t, speak to your ophthalmologist about ordering lighter frames. Only wear your glasses when absolutely necessary. We will provide you with a splint to wear under your glasses as your nose heals. Stay Out of the Sun Eating enough protein and vitamin C to support healthy collagen regeneration isn’t quite enough to speed along your recovery from rhinoplasty. UVA and UVB ray exposure can damage your existing collagen, extending the length of your recovery process. Do your best to avoid sun exposure when the sun’s rays are at their strongest (between 10 AM and 4 PM). When you go outside, wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a sun protection factor of at least 35. Reapply as directed on the bottle. Discover How to Put Your Best Face Forward Today Have you received a traumatic mid-facial injury while playing sports resulting in a misshapen nose? To learn more about rhinoplasty recovery and how you can speed it along, contact the office of Dr. Bruce Kadz in Beverly Hills, CA today to schedule your initial consultation. What Is Involved in a Brow Lift?
At the office of Dr. Bruce Kadz in Beverly Hills, CA, we often hear clients complain that they look more tired, disinterested, sad, or older than they actually are. They wish they could regain their youthful aesthetic with a brow lift, but they are hesitant because they don’t know enough about the procedure. Today, we answer the most frequently asked questions we receive about this procedure. 14 FAQs About Brow Lifts Answered 1. What Is Involved in a Brow Lift? The technique used to perform your brow lift will depend on the aesthetic you wish to achieve. During your initial consultation, Dr. Bruce Kadz will review your aesthetic goals to determine the best incision locations and techniques to meet those needs. He may perform an endoscopic, coronal, hairline, or Botox brow lift. 2. What Is Involved in an Endoscopic Lift of the Brows? An endoscopic lift involves several tiny incisions expertly hidden behind your hairline. A cannula (long, thin tube) is inserted into one of these incisions. On its end, it has a light and tiny camera (endoscope) mounted. The video feed plays on a monitor and allows Dr. Kadz to see your underlying tissues. Using an instrument inserted into a different incision, your forehead tissues will be lifted and anchored into a more youthful position. The two most common ways to achieve this are with small screws or sutures. To complete the procedure, incisions are stitched shut. 3. What Is Involved in a Coronal Lift? To perform a coronal lift, Dr. Kadz will make an incision behind the hairline across your crown. This incision stretches from ear to ear. Your forehead is then lifted into its new position. The scalp behind the incision is overlapped by the scalp in front of the incision. Dr. Kadz then removes the overlapping scalp. The remaining scalp is sewn together. This technique is ideal for clients who do not have thin hair, are not at high risk of developing androgenic alopecia and do not have a high hairline. 4. What Is Involved in a Hairline Lift? To perform a hairline lift, Dr. Bruce Kadz makes an incision between the start of the hairline and top of the forehead. He will remove a bit of skin and other tissue from the top of your forehead instead of your scalp. This means your hairline will not be pulled back. A hairline lift is most often used for clients who have a high receding hairline. It is also ideal for clients who are at risk of future hair loss or thin hair. This procedure usually takes an hour or two. 5. What Is Involved in a Botox Lift of the Brows? A Botox lift of the brows lasts only a few minutes. It involves the injection of botulinum toxin A into strategic areas of the forehead to tighten the skin, effectively lifting the brows. This treatment may be performed using a topical numbing cream. However, the needle used is so fine that most of our clients don’t request a topical anesthetic. 6. What Anesthesia Is Used? Using the endoscopic, coronal, or hairline techniques, you can expect to be put under general anesthesia. This means you will feel no pain or discomfort, and you will not be awake during your procedure. However, we will discuss the right form of anesthesia for your unique needs during your initial consultation. 7. What Is Involved in Preparing for the Procedure? Regardless of the technique used, there are several steps you must take to prepare for the procedure. For instance, you must come in for a one-on-one consultation so Dr. Kadz can review your medical history. Be ready to answer questions about existing and prior medical conditions. We also need to know about any medications you have taken recently or are taking now. Dr. Kadz also needs to know about any procedures you have had in the past and if you are allergic to certain medications, such as anesthesia. You will also discuss your expectations. To be a good candidate for this procedure, you must have realistic expectations about the results. 8. Will I Have a Physical Examination? The only way to determine if this is the right anti-aging procedure for you is to understand your desired results and evaluate your facial structure. To determine the ideal technique, Dr. Kadz will measure different parts of your face with your eyes closed and open. He will also perform a visual inspection of the rest of your face. 9. What Should I Avoid Before the Procedure? Before your procedure, it is absolutely crucial that you stop smoking. Depending on your blood pressure, you may need to stop anywhere from two to six weeks before your procedure. Similarly, you must not smoke for at least two to six weeks post-op. Keeping your blood pressure within a healthy range is essential. Moreover, for two weeks before and after your procedure, you must avoid taking any aspirin, anti-inflammatory medications, and nutritional supplements that can thin your blood. 10. Will I Have to Spend the Night in a Hospital? This procedure is performed on an outpatient basis at our state-of-the-art facility. Once the anesthesia has worn off, you are free to go home. However, you may not drive within 24 hours of being put under general anesthesia. You will need someone to drive you to and from your procedure. We recommend having someone stay with you for the first 24 hours post-op. 11. What Is Involved With Recovery? After your procedure, your forehead is wrapped loosely to speed the recovery process. For the first several days post-op, you must rest with your head elevated by two to three pillows. Take all prescription medications exactly as instructed. Apply cold compresses to the area. Try to not raise your eyebrows and do not subject the area to excessive pressure. 12. How Long Do the Results of the Procedure Last? The longevity of results from this procedure will last on a case-by-case basis based on several factors. On average, our clients enjoy the results of the procedure for 10 to 12 years. However, if it is performed at a younger age, results usually last around 15 years. 13. How Can I Extend the Results of the Procedure? There are several things you can do to extend the results of your procedure. For instance, you can stop smoking permanently. High blood pressure means your circulatory system struggles to transport crucial nutrients and oxygen to your skin. This results in premature signs of aging, like sagging. Cigarettes also reduce collagen and elastin production. Moreover, you should moisturize your face regularly and drink at least half a gallon of water per day. You’d be amazed by how much a little dehydration ages your skin. You may also benefit from chemical peels around the eyes to reduce fine wrinkles before they start sagging and cosmetic injectables to maintain your youthful appearance. 14. Am I a Good Candidate for a Brow Lift? During your initial consultation, Dr. Kadz will evaluate your facial structure and review your aesthetic goals to determine if you are a good candidate for this procedure. The best candidate for this procedure is disturbed by low eyebrows, asymmetrical eyebrow positions, severe forehead wrinkles, or droopy upper eyelids that may include excess skin. Moreover, the best candidate for this procedure is in decent overall health. Healthy lungs and a strong heart are necessary to be put under general anesthesia safely. Moreover, if you are on blood thinners and can’t come off of them before your procedure, you are not a good candidate for this procedure. In general, we also look for clients who don’t smoke. Is a Brazilian Buttock Lift Permanent?
At the office of Dr. Bruce Kadz in Beverly Hills, CA, we often get clients looking to enhance the aesthetic of their buttocks. Sometimes, they want to improve the symmetry of the buttocks. Others feel the loose skin and lack of volume makes them look older than they are. Today, we answer some of our most frequently asked questions about the Brazilian buttock lift. 15 FAQs About Brazilian Buttock Lifts Answered 1. Is a Brazilian Buttock Lift Permanent? The fat harvesting portion of the procedure is permanent. Once fat cells are removed from an area of the body, they cannot be grown back. The fat transferring portion of the procedure is permanent once the fat cells have taken hold in the area. However, the skin tightening effects of the procedure will eventually diminish due to the effects of gravity and aging. 2. Where Can I Have Fat Harvested From? Regarding where you can have fat harvested from, your options are virtually limitless. To determine the best place to have your fat grafted from, you must consider where you have enough fat to remove. Here are the most common places we use liposuction to remove fat from: Neck Knees Upper arms Thighs Hips Waist Abdomen If you are disturbed by the excess fat in a certain region but don’t have enough fat in that region for your Brazilian buttock lift, we can remove fat from that region and another one or two. During your initial consultation, we will help you determine the ideal regions to harvest fat from. We will also advise if other regions are ideal for further liposuction. 3. Will I Be Awake During the Procedure? This is up to you. We usually perform this procedure under general anesthesia, so you would not be awake during the procedure. However, if only a small volume of fat is harvested and transferred, you may receive just a local anesthetic. If anesthesia causes you gastrointestinal distress, we can give you anti-nausea medication before your procedure. 4. How Is Liposuction Performed? There are several liposuction techniques that may be used depending on your unique needs. But they all involve a cannula (thin tube) attached to a suction device. Excess fat is suctioned out of your trouble region, centrifuged (spun rapidly), cleaned, and processed for transfer. Only tiny incisions are necessary to insert the equipment. 5. How Is the Fat Transferred? Once the whole, healthy fat cells have been separated from the liquid and any damaged fat cells, they are ready for transfer to the buttocks. The fat is injected via syringe into strategic parts of the buttocks to create a symmetrical, rounded look. Depending on the extent of the fat transfer required, you may need three to five incisions to make the transfer. 6. What Happens Next? The incisions made for the liposuction and fat transfer are closed with stitches. You will be given prescription-strength compression garments to speed the recovery process. 7. What Are the Benefits of This Procedure? The primary benefit of this procedure is that there is no risk of an allergic reaction. Silicone buttock implants may be rejected by your body as the foreign materials they are. With a Brazilian butt lift, your buttocks are augmented by your body’s own fat. Even better, the results look and feel natural: because they are. You also don’t need regular imaging tests to ensure the continued structural integrity and appropriate position of the implants. 8. What if I Lose Weight After the Procedure? If you lose weight after your procedure, you may notice a slight volume decrease in your buttocks. Because you cannot tell your body where to lose weight, some of the fat cells in your buttocks may shrink. We strongly recommend this procedure to people who are confident that they can maintain their body weight. This ensures the continued results of the procedure. If you have excess weight to lose, hold off on this procedure until you are within 10 pounds of your goal weight. 9. What if I Gain Weight After the Procedure? If you gain weight after your Brazilian butt lift, again, there is no telling which fat cells will expand. The fat cells remaining in the area that received liposuction may expand. Or, you may gain weight somewhere else entirely. We usually recommend this procedure to people who are done having children because pregnancy usually results in fat gain. If you get pregnant after this procedure and gain weight, you may need an additional liposuction procedure to recover your aesthetic. 10. What if I’m Over 10 Pounds Away From My Goal Weight? If you’re over 10 pounds away from your goal weight, you may still be a good candidate for this procedure. We review everyone on a case-by-case basis. However, we strongly recommend against this procedure if you are over 30 pounds from your goal weight. When you have over 30 pounds of excess fat to lose, you may not be satisfied with the results of liposuction. Moreover, as you lose weight to reach a healthy weight, you will probably burn fat from your buttocks. If you lose too much weight from your buttocks, the effects of the procedure are negated and your skin may sag again. 11. Am I a Good Candidate for This Procedure? The best candidate for a Brazilian butt lift is at or near his or her ideal weight. The best candidate for this procedure has lost the natural shape of the buttocks due to weight fluctuations or age. A good candidate feels uncomfortable in his or her clothes. The best candidate does not smoke and leads an overall healthy lifestyle, including regular exercise. The ideal candidate has enough stored fat for grafting and has not had an infection within two weeks of the procedure. 12. How Soon Will I See the Results of the Procedure? The results of the procedure are immediately apparent. However, it can take up to six months to see the final results of the procedure. This is because only 65% to 70% of the grafted fat takes hold. To account for this, we transfer more fat than is necessary to achieve the ideal aesthetic. It can take up to six months for the strongest transferred fat to take hold in your buttocks. Your skin also needs time to settle and adjust to the new volume of the buttocks. 13. Can I Smoke After My Procedure? You cannot smoke in the six weeks leading up to or following your procedure. There are over 100 chemical compounds in cigarettes, including nicotine. Nicotine constricts your blood vessels, which elevates your blood pressure. If you need help to quit smoking, tell your doctor and ask for help. 14. What Else Should I Avoid After My Procedure? You should not take NSAIDs or any other medications that prevent blood clotting for two weeks post-op. Similarly, you must avoid taking any nutritional supplement that can thin your blood, like garlic or fish oil. 15. What Will the Activity Timeline Look Like After My Procedure? For the first two weeks post-op, you should use a specially designed pillow when you sit to ensure you don’t put too much pressure on your buttocks. You should take short, regular walks. However, you should avoid strenuous cardio or resistance training as these activities can elevate your blood pressure. During the third week post-op, you should focus on resistance training and only perform very light cardio. This ensures your circulatory system is running strongly so the fat cells are more likely to stabilize and survive. Simultaneously, you mitigate your risk of burning fat during your exercise. Be sure to eat plenty of calories on the days that you exercise. Discover How to Achieve Your Ideal Aesthetic Today Are you sick and tired of the way you look and feel in your skinny jeans? Do you lack the confidence to rock a bikini due to sagging buttocks? If so, a Brazilian buttock lift may be just what you need to find the self-confidence you lost.
