Facelift in Beverly Hills, CA

Everyone has an ideal image of how they’d like to look in their minds, and time is often the biggest obstacle to maintaining that appearance. Though many try to fight it, aging is a natural and inevitable aspect of life. While most people know this, it can be disheartening to see changes in your face and feel that you no longer look like yourself. It can be easy to feel helpless against wrinkles forming and skin sagging, altering your appearance in ways you cannot change by yourself.

If you’re unhappy with the visible signs of aging on your face, you don’t have to just quietly accept it. Facelifts allow people to rejuvenate their skin and restore a more youthful appearance. Dr. Kadz performs facelift surgery in Beverly Hills, CA, to help patients improve their facial skin and feel like themselves again.

What Is a Facelift?

A facelift, also known as rhytidectomy, is a surgical procedure that rejuvenates the facial region by treating wrinkles, lines, creases, and sagging skin. Women and men tired of seeing these aging signs can choose to get a facelift to tighten facial skin and smooth over wrinkles. After facelift surgery, patients can enjoy smooth, tight skin with youthful facial contours.

Am I a Candidate for Facelift Surgery?

If you want to reduce signs of aging on your face and rejuvenate your skin, facelift surgery may be an appealing option. To determine your candidacy for a facelift procedure, you’ll need to have a consultation with Dr. Kadz so your face can be evaluated, your medical history can be reviewed, and your goals can be discussed.   You may be a good candidate for a facelift if you:
  • Are in good health
  • Are a nonsmoker, or are willing to stop smoking for some time before and after surgery
  • Have sagging skin on your face
  • Have loose skin and fat deposits on the jawline (jowls)
  • Have fine lines, deep creases, and/or wrinkles on the face
  • Are bothered by aging signs on your face
  • Have realistic expectations about the procedure and your goals
Schedule your consultation with Dr. Kadz at Kadz Plastic Surgery to determine if facelift surgery is for you.

What Are My Facelift Options?

There are several names and variations associated with the facelift procedure. Patients with varying facial conditions will need different facelift techniques to achieve their desired results. Through his deep understanding and experience in performing facelifts, Dr. Kadz can help determine the best option for you during your initial consultation.

Deep Plane Facelift

For patients who wish to see a dramatic and natural change, the deep plane facelift treats the underlying tissue layers and muscles to provide the longest facial rejuvenation benefit. During this procedure, the mid-facial region’s underlying tissue layers and muscles are lifted and repositioned, improving the jawline and nasolabial folds. The deep plane lift puts less tension on the facial skin itself. Incisions, which are carefully hidden, usually begin above the hairline at the temples, follow the natural line in front of the ear, curve behind the earlobe into the crease behind the ear, and go along the lower scalp. A small incision may also be made under the chin if the neck needs work.

SMAS Facelift

The SMAS (superficial musculoponeurotic system) is a thin layer of soft tissue on the face that contributes to facial expression. Over time, the SMAS can become lax and sag, causing jowls to form and deepening the nasolabial folds. The more common SMAS facelift repositions the skin and the underlying cheek muscle to correct jowls and skin laxity. The SMAS lift provides a less “pulled” look and longer-lasting results than a skin-only facelift. An extended SMAS lift goes further towards the nose to help correct lines around the nose and the mouth. An extended SMAS lift separates the SMAS from the underlying structures more extensively towards the nose and upper lip. This can increase the possible improvement in the center of the face, especially the nasolabial area.

Mid Facelift

For patients who experience skin fold in the nasolabial area (soft tissue from around the cheekbones), sagging cheeks, and or facial skin laxity, the mid facelift can be an ideal procedure. The benefits of a mid facelift include the improvement of nasolabial folds and the restoring youthful-looking cheekbones. The procedure often requires small incisions along the hairline and inside the mouth so that the fatty tissues in the affected areas can be lifted and repositioned. The procedure uses small cuts in the hairline and the inside of the mouth, so scars are practically nonexistent.

Mini Facelift

People wanting to address minimal sagging in the lower portion of the face and the upper neck may find a mini facelift enough to achieve their goals. The mini facelift involves shorter incisions than a full facelift, and the incisions are typically made by the ears and in the hairline above the ears. Less tissue repositioning is involved for a mini facelift, but it can tighten the jawline and eliminate moderate jowls. Mild upper neck sagging may also be addressed with a mini facelift.

How Are Facelifts Performed?

You will be given general anesthesia for your facelift to make sure you’re comfortable throughout the procedure. Dr. Kadz will create the necessary incisions for the type of facelift you have chosen. Once the incisions have been created, he will reposition the underlying facial tissue to create the desired youthful contours. After all adjustments have been made, the skin will be redraped over the face and tightened. Excess skin will be trimmed to eliminate sagging. Dr. Kadz will close the incisions once everything has been tightened and repositioned.

What Is the Recovery From a Facelift Like?

Immediately after your facelift surgery, a large fluffy dressing is usually applied. Typically, within one day after surgery, the dressing may be removed and replaced with an elastic wrap. There is usually some discomfort following facelift surgery, which can be managed with medications. Some bruising may persist for two or three weeks, but you will feel much better by the end of the third week. Dr. Kadz will give you specific instructions on how to care for your incision sites and how long you’ll have to wait before doing certain activities. Make sure to follow these instructions to ensure a smooth facelift recovery.

What Results Can I Expect After a Facelift?

You can expect your face to be mostly presentable around two weeks after your surgery. However, your facelift results will continue to develop over the next few months. Most patients see their final facelift results around two to three months after their procedure. After this, you can enjoy smooth, tight, youthful-looking skin.

How Much Does a Facelift Cost in Beverly Hills, CA?

You can expect your facelift cost in Beverly Hills, CA, to include preoperative medical tests, anesthesia fees, surgeon’s fees, surgical facility costs, compression bandages/garments, and pain medication. It’s important to understand that every facelift procedure is unique and customized to fit the patient’s needs, which means that your facelift cost will depend on the surgical techniques used. You will receive a price quote for your facelift during your consultation.

Be sure to ask about combining surgeries during your consultation with Dr. Kadz to determine if this is an option for you.
